Avanti mux Hylas 2 at 31.0°E
Hi my friends, I have very little experience with KA band, on my first scan a fair few months ago I found this mux at Hylas 2 at 31.0°E,
My knowledge on this subject lnb etc is very limited but if you have any questions please ask and I will try my best to answer them, if you get no reply I don't know . The pictures below are my old pictures. when time permits I will put the lnb back on and try and get some recent screenshots, I believe 4 lnb are needed to cover the whole spectrum and they don't come cheap [IMG]Guests cannot see images and links in the messages. I hv many questions related with ka band. can u please explain why 4 lnb needed and what is the exact frequency spectrum range for downlink and uplink in ka band? fist time I hear about TV channels on Ka band. ka band is specially used for broadband services. this band has severe rainfade problem. what is the need to transmit TV channels on this band ? If u have ka band lnb then give some pictures. I want to know frequency range. then set of box UI specially in tuner section.. |

Please register to forum by clicking Register Here to see images.OR Login to view.Hi my friend like I say my knowledge is very limited but I will try and answer your Questions , I believe you can get one lnb to cover the whole bands but you would need to sell your home to get one , most people in the uk improvise by sending for certain lnb from the USA and modify them, Uplink uses frequencies between 27.5GHz and 31Ghz Downlink uses frequencies between 18.3 and 18.8Ghz and between 19.7 and 20.2Ghz. Rain fade When these high frequencies are transmitted and received in a heavy rain fall area, noticeable signal degradation occurs and is proportional to the amount of rain fall. In general, the higher the frequency, the more a signal is susceptible to rain fade. A typical Ku-band rain fade rate is approximately 1dB/sec while the fade rate in Ka-band is significantly higher at around 3-5dB/sec. Eutelsat Ka-Sat 9A @ 9° East transmit a few channels but these are hard to get they use spot beams and no matter what size dish you use if your in the wrong place you wont get them . Its only mad hobbyist that go to these lengths but it all good fun I do have one KA band lnb I will post some pictures up later , hope this helps .
