First Studio of UPTU to begin Virtual Classes Opened In Noida
The concept of virtual classroom for
engineering and management colleges, may take shape in Uttar Pradesh by enabling students to attend lectures of respective faculties of prominent management and technical institutions. Earlier to Five years, the project of virtual classes was first carried out by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), but was unsuccessful to complete it. The opening ceremony of the first studio for teacher- training purpose for virtual classes is in Noida, has heaved expectations for hi-tech virtual classes to finally commence. RK Khandal, vice-chancellor of UPTU informed, that the recording and taping of lectures will start shortly since studio for faculty development has already been installed. Students will soon be able to benefit from virtual lectures. Furthermore, officials of University told equipments essential for virtual classroom is already arranged and installed, however the software is yet to be finalised. The first studio has been set up in Noida, with this 5 additional studios will be built in distinct government colleges across Uttar Pradesh. For virtual as well as real classes, UPTU has signed Memorandum of Understanding with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh. With the monetary aid granted by the Central government, the studios will be equipped with top most and most updated facilities. Exchange of teachers shall not be bounded in only the state but linkages from other technical colleges of the country is also the objective, as mentioned by Khandal. Initially, technical colleges in Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal, Madhya Pradesh would be linked. This way more knowledge from distinct teachers will be communicated to the students. The grant of Rs. 3 Crore was given by The Ministry of Information and Communication in 2008, to UPTU. UPTU was formerly divided into Gautam Buddh Technical University (GBTU) and Mahamaya Technical University. Under this, 14 nodal centres were to be established by GBTU and Uttrakhand Technical University. Among 14, 12 were with GBTU. As per the proposal, approximately 600 colleges allied with UPTU will be connected. |
