Indian enrolees continue to increase in2013 for US graduate programmes
As per the new survey, Indian students
enrolling themselves in US graduate schools marked 40% increase the foreign enrolment growth in US this year, whereas, the Chinese students slowed down by marking only 5% increase in enrolees. This year’s 40% increase in enrolment of Indians to US is observed as 1% extra from 2012 and 2% in 2011. The annual survey of 285 members of the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS) claimed it all. Students from China in 2013 showed only 5% increase, which was previously a double digit growth for continuous 7 years. In 2012 China showed 22% increase, and 21% in 2011. According to survey, China remains to be the major source of foreign students, which constitutes to be 34% of all international graduate students studying in the US. Taken as a whole, foreign students applying for US graduate programmes this year rose to 10% by having 71,418 getting admissions in diverse fields. The overall total international student enrolment was 220,317, which is roughly 15% of all graduate students studying in America. South Korea is also a continuous leading source of foreign students in US, which falls behind China and India despite a plunge of 12% of enrolees in between year 2012 and 2013. As stated in the survey the enrolees from Europe constitute 7% in 2013, Africa constitute 3%, while Middle East enrolees constitute 6 per cent, up till now in the first rounds. The popular field among foreign students are physical and earth sciences, that comprise of maths and computer sciences, and engineering. Overall US noticed increase in enrolments in its all regions. |
