Cricket pitch is like a temple for me, says Sachin Tendulkar
Mumbai, Nov 17: After playing his final Test for India, Sachin Tendulkar was seen touching the pitch with both hands and then touching his heart before bidding an emotional adieu to the game.

And a day later, Tendulkar faced the media and explained the reason behind him touching the cricket wicket. "The 22 yards is like a temple for me, I just wanted to say a big thank you to cricket. And every time I go to bat I touch the wicket and take blessings. I thanked cricket for everything I have got in my life," Tendulkar said on Sunday in his first post-retirement press conference. The 40-year-old Tendulkar left the cricket scene after playing international cricket for 24 years and 1 day. He bowed out with a victory as India thrashed West Indies by an innings and 126 runs to win the two-match series 2-0. Today was the first day in Tendulkar's long career that he was a former cricketer now. On asked how the first morning was, he said he got up at his usual time but was relaxed with no cricket to play. "When I woke up this morning at 6.50am, well I don't need to quickly have a shower and get ready for the match. I enjoyed a quiet breakfast with my wife (Anjali). A lot of guys sent me their best wishes, I spent a lot of time thanking them. Morning was relaxed, and then here I am in front of you," Tendulkar said.
