Star Sports to drive sports consumption outside live events
MUMBAI: Going beyond live sporting events, Star Sports is launching a slew of shows aimed at inculcating a habit of schedule among the sports fans in the country. The sports network has launched ‘Star Power’, ‘Heroes’, ‘Masterclass’ and ‘Hockey Hotshots’.
Of the four, two shows are centred around cricket, one around all sports and the fourth one around hockey players. All the four shows will air on the networks’ dedicated Hindi sports channel, Star Sports 3, with ‘Masterclass’ also airing on Star Sports 1 in English. Star India head of sports business Nitin Kukreja said, “The consumption of sports till date has been limited to big live events. We, however, would like to engage more deeply with passionate sports fans. Therefore, we are embellishing our live content with a range of new shows and formats. This move is a critical step forward in creating a compelling experience for multi-sports fans who want to watch their favourite sports live and also want to have access to the best of non-live sports programming.” Launched on 6 November, ‘Star Power’ is a half-hour show that provides updates and insights into the world of sports.
