1. It Depends On Channel Broadcaster, They Can Uplink It From Any Teleport (But Needs Permission From Concern Dept),
2. It's Not Registered In India, It Is Illegal To Downlink In India, 3. If Indian Chanel Want To Be In That DTH First The Channels Has To Get Downlink Permissions From That Govt. |

The point is, is it legal for Indian channel to be on the platform without taking downlink license. I know in that case India will become a grey market for them but imagine how badly it will hurt the carriage fees revenue generated for DTH Platform and Government free DD dish. If an Indian broadcaster join the platform outside India to have legal international distribution and illegal (gray market) distribution in India this will definitely hits those who are asking massive carriage fees to free tv broadcasters. Any individual who wants to downlink the signal from the satellite via any 60-75 cm dish and open source decoder can easily do it as it is free to air. But government can stop broadcasters to join the platform because Gov. can monitor that. Though Indian broadcasting is very well define but still there are loopholes that can be used to develop new platforms. Please share more information on this if you get from some where. Regards MK |

RE: ABS International Free DTH Service Starts From ABS 2 at 75.0°East
There should not be any concern till any platform shows permitted channels,
The hot bird also works on the similar concept. It is good for the regional channels in India as they cannot afford the heavy carriage of the platforms and common man in the villages can enjoy regional channels without paying monthly cost. It is a win win situation for all , channels gets more visibility, viewers get regional channels which is the requirement of theirs in the smaller town and villages DD also gets coverage of the their channels Dear Admin/All, I have few questions and would appreciate if someone can answer: 1. From where they are up-linking? 2. Is this international DTH platform registered in India? 3. Is it legal to add Indian channels on KU Band without registering DTH platform in India? 4. How come DD is a part of this platform? Are they sign any agreement with them? Looking forward for response. thanks in advance BR Mayank [/quote] |
