MEASAT-3b launch timings confirmed
Satellite operator MEASAT has confirmed that the MEASAT-3b craft will launch at 5:21am 12 September MYT (6:21pm 11 September GFT) from the European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana. “MEASAT-3b was initiated in June 2011. This spacecraft, Malaysia’s largest and most advanced to date, is the result of more than three years’ co-operation between MEASAT, Airbus Defence and Space, the satellite manufacturer, and Arianespace, the satellite launch service provider,” said Paul Brown-Kenyon, Chief Executive Officer, MEASAT Satellite Systems. “We look forward to a successful launch.” MEASAT-3b is equipped with 48 high-powered Ku-band transponders to support video and data services across Malaysia, India, Indonesia and Australia. MEASAT-3b will be co-located with MEASAT-3 and MEASAT-3a at 91.5°E to create the region’s most powerful and robust orbital location. MEASAT-3b and Optus 10 were originally scheduled for launch June 6th, but a postponement was called after Optus Networks informed Arianespace that its payload required additional verifications. |
