DEN Manoranjan gets permanent MSO licence; 60 provisional registrations added
MUMBAI: With the deadline for Phase III of digital addressable system just over a month away, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has accelerated the pace of granting licence to the multi-system operators (MSOs).
The MIB has issued 60 new provisional MSO licences. This takes the total provisional MSO count to 322. The Ministry has also granted two new permanent registrations. With this, the permanent MSO count climbs to 234. DEN Network’s Pune-based subsidiary, DEN Manoranjan, has got the permanent licence to operate in Maharashtra. DEN Manoranjan’s provisional registration thus stands cancelled. It had provisional registration for Aurangabad, Kalyan-Dombivli, Nagpur, Nashik, Navi Mumbai, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, Solapur and Thane. DEN holds 51 per cent stake in DEN Manoranjan, as per its annual report for FY15. DEN Ambey Cable Networks, a subsidiary of DEN, was recently granted permanent registration to operate in Uttar Pradesh except Agra, Ghaziabad, Lucknow, Meerut, and Varanasi. The provisional registration for Agra, Allahabad, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut and Varanasi has been cancelled Nashik-based Den Premium Multilink Cable Network, another subsidiary in which DEN holds 51 per cent stake, is among the 60 MSOs who have been granted provisional registrations by the MIB. The provisional registration is for the entire state of Maharashtra. Visakhapatnam-based Waltair Entertainment has also received permanent registration for DAS Phase II area of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Guests cannot see images and links in the messages.
