RE: IPL 2014- News and updates ( Player list )
IPL 2014 Auctions: 233 capped players to go under the hammer On Monday, a register of capped players, has been released by the BCCI to the franchises. This register has a total of 233 names, which consists of players from 10 countries. These include: India – 46 Australia – 46 Sri Lanka – 39 West Indies – 29 South Africa – 28 New Zealand – 18 England -11 Zimbabwe – 8 Bangladesh – 7 Netherlands – 1 Although the list of uncapped players have not been released as yet. Kumar Sangakkara, Michael Clarke and Graeme Smith are the significant absentees from this list. No IPL officials were available to comment as to why these top international players have been excluded. But it is clear that IPL no longer see them as players that would be suited for the high intensity T20 format. OR Login to view. Michael Clarke has always been a reluctant participant in the T20 extravaganza, in which he did not participate in the first 3 season. On the insistence of Sourav Ganguly he agreed to play for the Pune Warriors thereafter. Although he missed out on the whole of last year’s tournament due to an injury. Kumar Sangakkara was the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, but such was his form that he had to drop himself from the squad on several occasions last season. He was also left out of the squad for the Champions League Twenty20 by the Sunrisers. Graeme Smith exclusion might not come as that big a surprise, as the veteran left-handed batsman only plays Test cricket for his country. The IPL has also released the base prices of these capped players, which range anywhere from Rs 30 lakh to Rs 2 crore. Base Prices: Seasoned campaigners like Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Jacques Kallis, George Bailey, Mitchell Johnson, Kevin Pietersen, Mahela Jayawardene, Mike Hussey, Brendon McCullum and Tilakaratne Dilshan have kept their price at Rs. 2 crores. Some non-marquee players like Pragyan Ojha, Ashish Nehra, Manoj Tiwary, Amit Mishra, Praveen Kumar, Robin Uthappa, Murali Vijay, James Pattinson, Mitchell Starc, Ross Taylor, Shaun March, Brad Hodge, Brad Haddin, Angelo Mathews and Samit Patel have also backed themselves for the top-bracket of Rs 2 crores. Alex Hales, despite being the World number 1 in the ICC T20 rankings for batsman, has not really established himself in the other formats of the game. Neither is he a renowned player of spin bowling which you expect in the IPL. So, it has come up as a surprise that he has priced himself at Rs 2 crores. Corey Anderson, who has been touted as the biggest thing in the forthcoming auction has undervalued himself at just Rs 1 crore placing himself in the third rung. Some Mumbai players like Pinal Shah, Wasim Jaffer, Ramesh Powar, Abhishek Nayar have all priced themselves at just Rs 30 lakh. The base price of uncapped players are yet to be released, although it has been reported that it will range from 10 to 30 lakhs. Player contract One-year term with a franchise having the option to extend for either one or two additional years. The option must be exercised on or before 15 December in each year. IPL league fee for all players to be denominated in Indian rupees. Overseas players to be paid in the currency of their choice at the prevailing exchange rate on either the actual date of payment or contract due date, whichever is beneficial to the player. IPL league fee to exclude payment for playing in the Champions League Twenty20, but to include up to six approved friendly matches. The additional fee for playing in CLT20 to be an amount equal to 10% of the IPL league fee. Squad composition Each squad must include no less than 16 and no more than 27 players, of which up to 9 may be overseas players. No more than four overseas players in the playing XI for any match. No minimum quota for catchment area players. Under-19 players must have played either First-class or List A cricket before signing for IPL. Salary Cap for the IPL league fees of the entire squad to be Rs. 60 crore for 2014, increasing by 5% per annum for 2015 and 2016. Minimum squad-spend of Rs. 36 crore in each of the 2014, 2015 & 2016 seasons. Retaining players in advance of the 2014 player auction In advance of the 2014 Player Auction, a franchise may sign up to five players (either capped or uncapped, no more than four of whom may be capped Indians) who were in its squad in 2013, including those who were unavailable during the season and those who were taken as temporary replacements. The player contract for the retained player (in standard form and signed by both the player and the franchise) must be lodged with the BCCI on or before Friday, January 10, 2014. Embargo on franchises approaching any players who were in another franchise's 2013 squad until Saturday, January 11, 2014. Irrespective of the IPL league fee that is agreed between the two parties and which is set out in the player contract, the 2014 Salary Cap (and if appropriate the 2015 and 2016 Salary Caps) for the franchise will be charged as follows: For Capped Players Rs. 12.5 crore for the first capped Player so retained. Rs. 9.5 crore for the second capped Player so retained Rs. 7.5 crore for the third capped Player so retained Rs. 5.5 crore for the fourth capped Player so retained Rs. 4 crore for the fifth capped Player so retained For Uncapped Players Rs. 4 crore for each uncapped Player so retained For the purpose of determining the Salary Cap charge for each player retained, franchises will be deemed to have retained capped players in the order of their actual IPL league fee (from the highest to lowest). If two or more retained capped players have the same IPL league fee, the relevant Salary Cap charges shall be added together and divided by the number of such players, with the Salary Cap being charged by the same amount for each player. For example if a franchise retains only two capped players, with the two having the same contracted IPL league fee, the Salary Cap charge for each shall be Rs. 11 crore (being Rs. 12.5 crore plus Rs. 9.5 crore divided by 2). A franchise which retains the maximum of five players, all of whom are capped, will have a balance of Rs 21 crore to pay the remaining up to 22 players in its squad for the 2014 season. Retained players may not be traded. Auction Auction to be held on Wednesday 12 and, if necessary, Thursday February 13, 2014. All players (capped or uncapped, Indian or overseas, those who did or did not play in IPL in 2013) must enter the 2014 player auction process if they want to play in the IPL in 2014. The only exceptions are those who are retained in advance as described above. Only players who enter the player auction process (but are not taken by a franchise during the player auction) are eligible to be taken as a replacement during the 2014 season. The format of the 2014 Player Auction will be broadly similar to that of the 2013 Player Auction with the addition that each franchise will have a number of "rights to match" which it may exercise during the course of the auction for any players who were in its squad in 2013. The number of "rights to match" available to a franchise will depend on the number of players that the franchise retained in advance: If the number of players retained by a franchise prior to the auction is three or more, they are entitled to only one "right to match" during the auction. If a franchise retains only one or two players prior to the auction, they are entitled to two "rights to match" during the auction. If a franchise doesn't retain any player prior to the auction, they are entitled to three "rights to match" during the auction. The "right to match" is to be exercised as follows: Once the bidding for any player who was in a franchise's 2013 squad is complete and the auctioneer is satisfied that no more bids will be forthcoming, the auctioneer will bring down the hammer, declare the player "sold" and then ask the relevant franchise if it wishes to exercise one of its remaining "rights to match". If the franchise chooses to exercise the "right to match", the franchise will take the player for the amount of the final bid that had been made in the Player Auction. No further bidding by any other franchises is possible. Franchises may take no more than four capped Indian players via a combination of retention prior to the auction and the "right to match". |

RE: IPL 2014- News and updates ( Player list )
Even as the IPL faces another high-tide period with the menace of betting and fixing in the league appearing to turn from allegation into ground reality, Rs. 274.50 crore will be put on the table by its eight franchises at the 2014 players' auction beginning Wednesday.
A complete makeover of most teams in store adds to the excitement when bidding starts on Wednesday with 16 marquee players who will have the base price of Rs. 2 crore each. OR Login to view. Another couple of firsts at the auction will be the presence of uncapped players in the pool and bidding in Indian rupees instead of US dollars. Here's all you want to know before the auction beginning February 12. The list of 514 names includes 219 capped players (169 Indians and 50 overseas players) and 292 uncapped players (255 Indians and 37 overseas players). The Associate ICC members will be represented by Ireland's Niall and Kevin O'Brien and Ryan Ten Doeschate of the Netherlands. As per the tweaked player/auction regulations, each squad must include no less than 16 and no more than 27 players, of which up to 9 may be overseas players. There are 30 players with maximum base price of Rs 2 crore, including 11 Indians. Marquee players 16 marquee players divided into two sets of each will be the first to go under the hammer. The two sets include Virender Sehwag, Kevin Pietersen, Jacques Kallis, Yuvraj Singh, Mahela Jayawardene, Mitchell Johnson, M Vijay, David Warner, George Bailey, Faf du Plessis, Michael Hussey, Dinesh Karthik, Zaheer Khan, Brendon McCullum, Amit Mishra and Darren Sammy. WHAT IS 'RIGHT TO MATCH'? * Once the bidding for any player who was in a franchise's 2013 squad is complete and the auctioneer is satisfied that no more bids will be forthcoming, the auctioneer will bring down the hammer, declare the player 'sold' and then ask the franchise previously owning that player if it wishes to exercise one of its remaining 'rights to match' * If the franchise chooses to exercise the 'right to match', the franchise will take the player for the amount of the final bid that had been made in the player auction * No further bidding by any other franchises is possible * Franchises may take no more than 4 capped Indian players via a combination of retention prior to the auction and the 'right to match'. Indians to watch out for: Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan Foreign players to watch out for: Kevin Pietersen, David Warner, George Bailey, Jacques Bailey, Corey Anderson, Mitchell Johnson, Mahela Jayawardene ============================================================== Bangalore: Mired in controversies but lucrative nonetheless, the Indian Premier League will conduct its seventh players` auction here on Wednesday with some of the biggest global and Indian stars going under the hammer alongside uncapped players for the first time. Controversial England batsman Kevin Pietersen will be one of the first players to go under the hammer along with senior India discards Virender Sehwag and Yuvraj Singh in the two-day auction here. But the biggest draw of IPL VII auction would be without doubt New Zealand all-rounder Corey Anderson, who has been slotted at No 83 in the 10th set which has the second array of international all-rounders. Among the 219 capped players, who have played some form of international cricket, 169 are Indians while 50 are overseas players. This will also be the first time in IPL`s history that uncapped players will be auctioned. The cricketers have been divided into 53 sets with each lists ranging from eight to 10 players. The first list that consists of some of the biggest stars of Indian and international cricket named as Marquee 1 or M1. While Pietersen`s international career may have come to an abrupt end, but the maverick England batsman will be in demand as he is set to be the fourth player to be auctioned on the first day at the ITC Gardenia. Along with Pietersen, the likes of Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, David Warner, Ashes hero Mitchell Johnson, Mahela Jayawardene, and the recently-retired Jacques Kallis will also go under the hammer at the first go. Murali Vijay is also present in M1 list where all players have a base price of Rs 2 crore save Warner (Rs 1.5 crore). The second list of marquee player or M2, as they are slotted, consists of New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, Australian ODI and T20 captain George Bailey, veteran speedster Zaheer Khan, South African batsman Faf Du Plessis, Australian batsman Michael Hussey and West Indies all-rounder Darren Sammy to name a few. Like in the previous years, no Pakistan players feature in the IPL list while there are a huge 28 sets slotted for the uncapped Indian and overseas players. While young South African keeper-batsman Quinton de Kock, who scored a hat-trick of ODI centuries is in the first list of capped wicketkeepers (WK 1) with a base price of Rs 1 crore, flavour of the season Anderson has been slotted in the second set of international all-rounder (AL 2) at No 83. The slotting of Anderson at 83 will mean that there will be a `Bidding War` for the in-form burly Black Caps all-rounder as some of the teams with higher salary caps like Delhi Daredevils will have to face the might of Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians as the franchises are supposed to be on even keel by then. It`s surprising that Anderson didn`t find his name in the premier set of international all-rounders in which the Pathan brothers --- Irfan and Yusuf have been clubbed alongside Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood, who is now a British passport holder. Set No 25, which consists of uncapped Indian batsmen, will see a bidding war among the franchises for the likes of Kedar Jadhav, Unmukt Chand, Vijay Zol. The base prices of these uncapped players have been fixed between of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 30 lakh. |

The second day in the office for auctioneer Richard Hadley is certainly proving to be more tiring, with bids flying from all parts of the room to buy players for the seventh season of Indian Premier League. There have been some interesting names that have been picked up for a fairly higher price. Karan Sharma was bought by Sun Risers Hyderabad for the highest price of Rs 3.75 crore on the second day so far, after some frantic bidding by King’s XI Punjab as well. The second top bid was for Rishi Dhavan at Rs 3 crore by King’s XI Punjab. Other top bids were for Kedar Jadhav at Rs 2 crore, Beuran Hendricks at Rs 1.8 crore and Rajat Bhatia at Rs 1.7 crore. The next round of the auction will feature the remaining uncapped players, but the franchises have been asked to give a list of 10 players each - wicket keepers and batsmen together, bowlers together and all-rounders clubbed together - in sets of shortlisted players based on their expertise. |
